~~~~~~~~~
Last Fall,  music director Cynthia Vaughn recruited some of Fort Collins finest folk musicians as the onstage band for the musical "Quilters"  at the award-winning Bas Bleu Theatre Sep17-Oct23. www.basbleutheatre.org The production was a huge success, selling out most performances in the final weeks, with audience members coming from as far way as Denver and Cheyenne. The dramatic musical based on true stories of pioneer women, received strong reviews that mentioned director Morris Burns, the fine acting ensemble, and the music. The live bluegrass band lent an authentic flavor to the traditional tunes (and sound effects) that helped the pioneer women tell their stories. Through playing onstage together for six week, the musicians become a true band. They added a pre-show of bluegrass tunes to entertain the arriving audience members, and after closing night they made plans to keep the music going.  They named the band "Thread the Needle" after one of the folk tunes in Quilters.
Steve, Ben, Marta, Greg, and Jeremy quickly accepted Cynthia's invitation to  perform a concert at Magnolia Music Studio. It was important to the band that the concert give something back to the community. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Homelessness Prevention Initiative.
