Concert For Arizona Water Sentinels!
Arizona's rivers need you! And you can help just by enjoying some great music in a great venue for a great cause: The Sierra Club - Grand Canyon (Arizona) Chapter Arizona Water Sentinels program! Music will be flowing all evening, from three fabulous groups: Pick n Holler, The Strand, and De Mairt Coel.
Water is life in the desert. Arizona's rivers and streams have been impacted by pollution, diversion, groundwater pumping and erosion. The Arizona Water Sentinels Program is doing hands-on conservation work to protect Arizona's precious waters. Their mission is to protect, improve, and restore Arizona rivers and streams. They collect water quality data, perform stream clean-ups, work on invasive species eradication, conduct revegetation projects and monitor water policies at the state and federal levels and speak up for the health of our rivers!
This event also honors Steve Pawlowski, a musician and a man who had a true passion for nature and the outdoors, and especially our rivers. He dedicated his life to making the world a better place. Steve coordinated last years benefit, which was a big success, and we had talked about making it an annual event. Steve passed away before that could happen, but we would like to honor his life and his work, and his love of music, and have that party we talked about!
We will be starting with Jennifer Martin, Water Sentinels Program Coordinator for the Sierra Club. Jennifer has taken up the torch so beautifully carried by Steve! She and a couple of friends will kick the event off, with lots more music to follow!!
Admission of $25 will help the Arizona Water Sentinels continue their good work. Doors open at 7:15pm.
