Hell High & Flower's in the Attic - 35mm Double-Feature
The Last Picture Show
35mm has been the dominant projection format in movie theaters for more than 120 years. It's been said that by 2015 digital projection technology will replace film, worldwide.
With the closing of The Royale this past week, and many nights looking back at all the movies I've screened over the years, I've been feeling a little blue. Therefore, I'd like to go back to where it all began for just one night.
On January 13th I will be presenting one final 35mm double-feature. As digital cinema continues to take over, this will likely be your last chance to experience the magic of repertory film here in the valley. During the closing credits of each film, audience members will be invited up to the projection booth to see how 35mm film projection works.
For my final hurrah, I've chosen two movies that mean a great deal to me. First, HELL HIGH (1989) the first feature I ever screened. This print is a true rarity (1 of 45 prints ever struck) and a forgotten gem of the 80's slasher genre. Second, FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC (1987) as requested by The Midnite Movie Mamacita, this gothic masterpiece is the epitome of camp. As always, there will be a variety of vintage trailers before each feature.
Sincerely, Zack Attack
