2007-2008 Season Subscription
Since its inception, Opus 7 has established a reputation for featuring a diverse range of newly composed and rarely performed masterworks, along with time-honored classics of choral literature. In keeping with that long-standing tradition, our 16th Season features four exciting concerts that showcase the ensembles wide palette of expression and repertoire.
The upcoming concert year is framed by seasonal bookends honoring Autumn and Spring, beginning with Autumn Nights, a musical journey through the many-varied hues and meanings of this beautiful season, and closing with Spring Folly, a light-hearted and entertaining musical evening featuring humorous works for choir and music inspired by the romantic season of Spring. Our annual Holiday concert, Mother and Child, explores the mystical relationship between the Virgin Mary and her son and features one of Opus 7s favorite composers, Benjamin Britten, as Opus 7 presents his rarely-performed early masterpiece, Christs Nativity. In April, Opus 7 embraces the timely themes of Mercy & Peace in Blessed are the Peacemakers, which features another seldom-heard tour-de-force by Britten, his Cantata Misericordium, as well as Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace) by the Latvian composer Peteris Vasks.
Join us for this powerful and entertaining year of choral music as a Season Subscriber to ensure that you dont miss one second of the stunning sonic experiences that Opus 7 will be bringing to you in our 2007-2008 season!
