Rat City All-Star Clinic 1: Hitting
Join us for a 2-hour Clinic on hitting led by Rat City All-Star coach and skater, Glitter. Known for her hard-hitting hips and gruesome sternum blocks, Glitter will cover the fundamentals of powerful hitting.
Date and Time: Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 11am to 1pm.
This first of five clinics will focus on hitting at the beginner to intermediate level. We request that all participants are able to skate using cross-overs, can safely give/receive contact and fall small.
Coaches who wish to observe drills and strategy may purchase an Observer ticket.
Please bring all required derby gear and skates (including wheels appropriate for a hard sport court), a water bottle, and a notebook and pen if you'd like to take notes.
If you would like to attend all five clinics offered, please sign up here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/219076

Q&A
Question: |
I am coming down from Canada during this weekend. Is there any issue with having Canadian Insurance? |
Answer: |
Hi. We do accept CWRDA insurance for the clinics. If you are insured by RSC I will need to confirm that there is coverage - let us know! Hope to see you soon :) |
|
Question: |
Open to any skaters? |
Answer: |
This is open to female skaters with solid skating skills. The drills practiced with be at the beginner to intermediate derby level (not necessarily those brand new to skating). Juniors (under 18 years old) are welcome but may only engage in contact with other juniors. Please let us know you have any further questions about this. |

Answer: |
Hi! The Clinics are being held once a month from Jan to May, the same morning as the RCRG Home Team Bouts at Key Arena. You can find all the clinics if you do a search for "Rat City" on the Brown Paper Tickets homepage. |

Question: |
Are there usually a lot of junior skaters there? Or do I run the risk of buying a ticket and not having anyone to even practice with? |
Answer: |
We had a clinic last year with only one junior who couldn't participate much, so the risk is definately there. I can tell you that no juniors have signed up yet. I recommend getting a friend to sign up with you to guarantee that you have someone to hit with. Although future clinics are not specifically focused on hitting there will be contact in the drills. |
