Sangs an' Clatter: Thomas the Rhymer
Thomas the Rhymer
In August Daniel Serridge, Storyteller for The Village Storytelling Centre, decided to walk along the border with only a rucksack on his back and a story of Thomas the Rhymer in his head. Thomas disappeared for seven years with the Queen of elf land and came back unable to lie. Daniel disappeared for seven days, but who knows what kind of truth he's come back with.
This evening of storytelling, will be the recounting of that journey from Gretna Green to Berwick-upon-Tweed, featuring stories of the characters and events that occurred along the way. Using folklore, song and true storytelling, Daniel attempts to understand what it means to people to live close to the border and what it means to be English and living in Scotland after the independence referendum.
Including performances from other storytellers from the region who Daniel met along the way. A fun evening of humour and stories with some important stuff thrown in too!
