The Crucible
LeGacy presents the classic American drama "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller from September 18th through October 11th at the historic Nevada Theatre, 401 Broad St, Nevada City. Marking the 100th birthday of one of America's greatest playwrights, The Crucible is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Province of Massachusetts Bay during 1692 and 1693. Directed by Sue LeGate Halford, The Crucible has never been performed in the historic Nevada Theatre, which celebrates its 150th birthday on September 11th. The Nevada Theatre also is marked for being the longest continually operating theatre on the west coast. LeGacy veterans John Bivens and Ariel Elliot star as ill-fated John Proctor and the vengeful Abigail Williams. Other LeGacy veterans include Nadia White as Ann Putnam, Kristine Alcamo as the slave Tituba, Rodger Hoopman as Frances Nurse,Brian Arnold as Judge Danforth, Darryl Stines as Giles Corey, and Adam Morton as Thomas Putnam. Newcomers include Camille Collings as Mary Warren, Carl Mayhew as the Reverend Parris, Matt Teff as Reverend Hale, and Terry Fay as Rebecca Nurse. Light and set design by Les Solomon, costumes by Sharon Sciabica Twelve performances only.
