RAIN OR SHINE!
When the wave of counter-culture reached Peru in the 1960s, musicians incorporated psychedelic surf guitar sounds into their local cumbia, giving birth to a genre known as cumbia Huaracha, or Peruvian cumbia. The phenomenon spread from Lima's urban center to the most remote towns of the Amazon, and became part of the national identity. Eight former members of the country's iconic chicha bands (Los Mirlos, Los Diablos Rojos and Los Destellos) have joined up five decades later to revive these delirious melodies with their bold guitar sounds, jolting rhythms, looping grooves, and propulsive beats. South Florida debut.
