DAEMONS-A Suite of One-Acts
The interweaving short plays will be directed by Benedicta Bertau and Patrick Doyle, and feature actors David Anderson, Benedicta Bertau, and Patrick Doyle. THE BEGGAR OR THE DEAD DOG, one of the lesser known one-acts by Bertolt Brecht, paints an emperors encounter with a beggar on his victory day. The world premiere of Max Freunds REFLECTIONS OF DAEMONS draws vivid, strange, and humorous images of the battles of the human psyche. NOBODADDY, written in 1926, and later recreated for the radio, brings MacLeishs poetic sensitivity to the old myth of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, divine jealousy, and the first murder. Jonathan Talbott will create live music and soundscapes, while Deena Pewtherer will illuminate this theatrical event. The production will move through the historical brick building of the Basilica Industria, taking the audiences on a journey.
