Bay Area actor/playwright, W. Allen Taylor*, performs his phenomenal one-man play "In Search of My Father...Walkin' Talkin' Bill Hawkins", at the newly renovated, state-of-the-art East Bay Center for the Performing Arts theatre in downtown Richmond, CA.
"In Search of My Father..." recalls Taylor's adventurous search for his absent father Bill Hawkins, the first black disc jockey in Cleveland, Ohio. Taylor brings his extraordinary acting talents to six weekend performances, while R&B, jazz and gospel music celebrate the cultural legacy of black radio. The 90-minute show follows the inspiring and heartwarming journey of self-discovery and destiny as Taylor performs a range of richly defined characters.
