The Scarlet Pimpernel - a rehearsed reading
"They seek him here, they seek him there."
Before Batman, Superman and Zorro there was The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Paris, 1793. Blood, denunciations and terror. Sixty people are being sent to the guillotine every day; the city's population is living in fear.
But an English aristocrat, styling himself 'The Scarlet Pimpernel', is rescuing prisoners from under the noses of the Republican authorities making them a laughing stock. They task their ambitious, ruthless spymaster with uncovering the true identity of the audacious Pimpernel.
This is an epic new adaptation of the novels featuring Baroness Orczy's swashbuckling hero.
As this is a rehearsed reading of a work-in-progress there will be a Q & A session after the reading. Please note that the play runs for approximately two and a half hours. Do wrap up warm it can get cold in the Steamie!
