SOLI 2 BEETHOVEN R/EVOLUTIONS
SOLI Chamber Ensemble's 2011-2012 Season continues with its second concert entitled Beethoven R/Evolutions. Participating in the San Antonio Symphony's citywide Beethoven Festival*, the ensemble will present the festival's most daring and innovative program 'SOLI style'. SOLI will explore one of Beethoven's most controversial compositions, his Grosse Fuge, op. 133, originally written for String Quartet, by featuring FOUR brand new works inspired by this iconic work. Experience the world premieres of the latest works from composers Doug Balliett, Xi Wang, Dan Welcher and Pulitzer Prize winning composer Paul Moravec, plus the premiere of a new transcription of the Fuge especially written for SOLI by Trinity University's newest Assistant Professor of Music, composer Brian Bondari.
