The Untangling at the Junction + The Forgotten Land - RHINOFEST 2012
The Untangling at the Junction: What does it mean if you lose yourself when you follow the rules then find God when you break them? At her father's deathbed, Nicole promises to return to Islam. Here's the trouble: Nicole is still openly queer. The Untangling at The Junction is a multi-character solo performance that incorporates Butoh (a Japanese style of dance/movement) to investigate seemingly opposing identities.
The Forgotten Land: Inspired from the article "The future of newspapers, the end of journalism" by Malcolm Turnbull and my personal experience being loyalty subscriber to Printed newspaper for the sake of its surviving. This Butoh dance theatre piece is to dedicate to Printed Newspapers as its entering to the new era of digital world being left behind in the land that is literally forgotten. What happens when two worlds collide? Something is being reminded....
