1/30 - A Lot Like Birds, Decoder, Just Like Vinyl
January 30, 2012

A Lot Like Birds (Doghouse Records)

A Lot Like Birds is a 6-8 piece Progressive/Post-Hardcore outfit from Sacramento, CA known for their tendency to experiment with several diverse genre influences and their incorporation of orchestral and ambient sound-scapes contrasted by chaotic, schizophrenic episodes. On January 9th of 2011, A Lot Like Birds announced that Kurt Travis (Ex of Dance Gavin Dance, Five Minute Ride, No Not Constant, and O! the Joy) would be the new singer and second front-man, alongside Cory Lockwood. With their acclaimed addition, the band quickly signed to Doghouse Records (All American Rejects, Say Anything, The Get Up Kids) and acquired The Artery Foundation (Asking Alexandria, Dance Gavin Dance, Alesana) as management.

Their debut album Plan B was the brainchild of the band's guitarist/original vocalist Michael Franzino, who invited several talented musicians in the Sacramento scene (Including various orchestral instrumentalists and a female vocalist) to perform on the record. They spent their first year of existence diligently perfecting their live set, building their fan base, and most recently, writing their sophomore album as a collaborative effort. Their live set is known for setting deep moods that swing from thoughtful, emotional build-ups to body-moving, epic climaxes.

In June of 2011, A Lot Like Birds entered Interlace Audio recording studio with Producer/Engineer Kris Crummet (Closure In Moscow, Fear Before, Dance Gavin Dance) to record their second full length album "Conversation Piece", which will be released on Doghouse Records on October 11th.

Rooted in the idea of doing something unique, new, and unheard, DECODER was formed. Rising from the ashes of previously signed bands (OCEANA, VERSA EMERGE and OF MACHINES), DECODER became a well seasoned unit after months of demoing and honing their sound and enlisted Matt Malpass (Manchester Orchestra, Copeland, Relient K, Lydia) to help them craft and record their debut full length. Taking elements of prog, rock, and screamo, DECODER is a band's band and much, much more.

Just Like Vinyl
(https://www.facebook.com/justlikevinylwa)

Just Like Vinyl was formed in the spring of 2010 by former Fall Of Troy frontman Thomas Erak and guitarist/vocalist Jake Carden of Seattle band The Filthy None. Henry Batts, a long-time friend and crew member of The Fall Of Troy was enlisted to play bass. The three began writing and rehearsing together preceding The Fall Of Troy's final tour that same spring, and demos for "It's Over" and "No Friend Of Mine" were cut at Dynasty Studios in Seattle with Thomas playing drums. After Thomas and Henry returned from the tour, the group immediately continued writing and rehearsing with drummer Jay Beaman, formerly of the band Schoolyard Heroes. With a complete lineup, JLV entered Dynasty Studios once again and recorded their debut self-titled LP. The album was released during their first tour in October of 2010. The group then completed The Freedom Tour 2011 w/ The Memorials (Jan-Mar), as well as The Downtown Battle Mountain Tour 2011 w/ Dance Gavin Dance (Mar-Apr). They are currently writing and planning to record their 2nd LP, while playing select shows around the Northwest.
