ONE-DAY WRITING WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN WITH ELIZABETH BERG, Saturday 9/26/15
Come to a workshop with ten women, all of whom are focused on creating an essay, short story, or travel piece in one day. Here's the structure: 8:30-10am Meet with Elizabeth for orientation and to hear a brief talk about character, place, and dialogue. Try out a few exercises that will be done in class and shared. Then, off you go to gather material! (Coffee, juice and pastries will be served.) 10-12 Go wherever you like to listen and imagine. Collect details that you might use for your piece. 12-1 Meet with Elizabeth to share what you discovered and to make plans for what you might write. Then off you go again to write at the place of your choosing, the Oak Park public library, perhaps. (Sandwiches, chips, fruit and drinks will be served.) 6pm-9 Meet with Elizabeth and share your work. You will be kindly but honestly critiqued by Elizabeth and the other members of the group. Deep dish Chicago pizza and salad, soda, wine and beer will be served. Also Elizabeth's mighty fine chocolate chip cookies. Elizabeth's mission is to have you leave the workshop raring to write more!!
