Lauren Heintz w/ Tangled Sisters
Gatorbone Recording Artist Lauren Nicole Heintz has quite a story to tell. She worked on U-2 spy planes while in the USAF in South Korea and other places, rode the dot-com tech waves in Silicone Valley as a Software Engineer, water-skied in gator-infested rivers, swam in volcanic calderas, and challenged every boundary or limitation ever thrown at her. And despite her world travels, career successes, and unique experiences, she remains a humble and shy person.
In January 2014, against stiff national-level talent and award-winning acts, Lauren amazed the judges and audience at the prestigious South Florida Folk Festival singer/songwriter competition and went home a winner of the 2014 Vic Heyman songwriting award. Just months earlier she won at the 2013 Walnut Valley Festival Song Contest in Kansas. She's also received honorable mentions at the Woody Guthrie Song Contest (2014) and the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (2015), as well as a coveted third-place win at the 2015 Will McLean Song Contest (finishing in the "Top Ten" there for three consecutive years).
With intricate and innovative finger-style guitar, distinctively deep vocals, and heartfelt original songs that reverberate in the style of Lightfoot, Croce and Denver, Lauren performs across the country at house concerts, listening rooms, and festivals.
In 2012 she released a beautifully-produced album, Feels Like a Miracle, and is now working on her next project at Gatorbone Studios.
Lauren's musical roots came as a result of frequent living-room jam sessions by her parents in her Chicago-area childhood home. And it was the soulful music from such legends as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard & Hank Williams that first inspired her to become a songwriter. Later it would be the Beatles, later still, Jim Croce, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, the Eagles. Lauren graduated (1973) from Eustis High School, Florida and immediately joined the USAF, then later received her Bachelors of Science in Computer Science (University of Maryland, 1987), then spent the next fifteen years as a Software Engineer before outing herself as a singer/songwriter just after the turn of the century. Today, she lives in Central Florida.
Tangled Sisters, featuring Idel Smith and Kathy Kitzmann, will open the show.
