Berkeley Choro Home Concert with Rogério Souza, 7- String Brazilian Guitar
This is a home concert in North Berkeley of Brazilian music, featuring members of Berkeley Choro Ensemble, Jane lenoir, flute, Harvey Wainapel, clarinet, Brian Rice, percussion, and our guest, Rogério Souza, from Rio de Janeiro. Rogério Souza is a Brazilian 7-String Guitarist, composer and arranger. He has performed extensively across several continents with some of the great artists in Brazilian popular music, including Ivan Lins, Jao Bosco, Ney Matogrosso, Chico Buarque, Leila Pinheiro, Baden Powell, Paulo Moura and Epoca de Ouro. He is one of the founding members of Nó em Pingo D'Áuga, one of Brazil's most innovative choro ensembles. Rogério belongs to a family of eminent Brazilian musicians, including Ronaldo (Souza) do Bandolim and Tiago Souza, father and son mandolinists, and will be teaching at California Brazil Camp in Cazadero for the second year in a row.
We welcome him and are happy to kick off his US tour. He will be returning to the Bay Area the last week of September and performing concerts and conducting workshops with Duo Violão Brazil with his duo partner Edinho Gerber.
