Master Recital: Beethoven Plus
In the final recital of the festival, five renowned cellists perform extraordinary works for cello. The recital begins will Antonio Lysy, accompanied by pianist Antoinette Perry, performing Beethoven's E-flat variations, Bei Männern and Golijov's Omararmor. Evan Drachman, also accompanied by Perry, will perform the Haydn-composed, Piatigorsky-arranged piece Divertimento as well as Piatigorsky's Prayer. Nathaniel Rosen, with narrator John Rubinstein, showcases Beglarian's whimsical work, Of Fables, Foibles and Fancies; Andrew Shulman, with pianist Jeffrey Kahane, finishes the afternoon with Beethoven's Sonata in C Major, Op. 102, No. 1.
