Half Moon Jug Band - CD Release show
HALF MOON JUG BAND ALBUM RELEASE SHINDIG AND HULLABALOO!
The Half Moon Jug Band will finally unleash its fourth, full-length album "Don't Bore Us, Get to the Chorus," on an unsuspecting world on Saturday night Nov. 14. The shindig gets underway at 7 p.m. at Mayo Street Arts in Portland. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
In addition to songs from the new record as well as old favorites from years past expect exciting games, fabulous prizes and scintillating musical guests.
The Half Moon Jug Band is a three-man mob of musical desperadoes waging a daily battle against the humdrum forces of boredom and inaction. They fend off the blahs with banjoes, kazoos, guitars saxophones and silliness. They want to make you dance and sing along at the top of your lungs.
They thrive on interaction with the audience. It's not just about standing on stage, playing songs. It's about singing, dancing and making people happy. They do whatever it takes to put on a show, studding every performance with jokes, stories and mandatory sing-alongs. No one gets out without singing. No one.
They new collection of songs is entirely self-recorded and self-produced a first for the band. It was recorded in the kitchen and dining room at HMJB HQ in Portland's Parkside neighborhood. It features brand-new original tunes about alien abduction, wayward mountaineering women and outlaw pigs on the run. The band also covers classic Maine tunes by the Wicked Good Band and Allagash logger Harold Jackson. They take a stab at a banjo-laden Madonna classic, too.
