Taste of Philly Food Tour (Winter-Spring 2012)
Philly is famous for its cheesesteaks, hoagies and pretzels. Learn the story behind these and other local food favorites, and the vibrant and historic Reading Terminal Market where they're sold during this 75-minute Market-based walking tour. Also see pretzels being twisted, hear the story behind the Breyers Ice Cream logo and find out where Milton Hershey got the idea for Hershey's Kisses -- in other words, fun history that has nothing to do with our government! Tour was written and is frequently led by food writer Carolyn Wyman, the author of the definitive "Great Philly Cheesesteak Book" (Running Press), "Spam: A Biography" (Harcourt) and "Jell-O: A Biography," featured on NPR's "Fresh Air," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and "Jay Leno."
Note: This ticketing space is for spring Saturday tours ONLY. The Taste of Philly Food Tour is also offered at 10 a.m. Wednesdays year-round, but the reservation process for Wednesday tours taking place before May 30 is different. To make reservations for a spring Wednesday tour, call 215-545-8007 x3 or e-mail tasteofphillyfoodtour@gmail.com with the Wed. date you would like to take the tour, the number in your party and a phone number (cell or hotel) where we can reach you the day before the tour to confirm your Wednesday reservation. All spring Saturday reservations should be made here. Call 215-545-8007 x3 or e-mail tasteofphillyfoodtour@gmail.com to make reservations for any Wednesday tour in spring or to schedule a private group tour on some other day or time at any time of year. Spring Wednesday tour reservations CAN NOT be made here. Want to reserve a summer tour date (i.e. May 30 through Labor Day weekend)?
