Little Brown Brother
Little Brown Brother has been performing regularly in the Bay Area since it was formed in 2006 and has been featured at many different concerts, events, and nightclubs. Its members are Ben Luis on bass, vocals; Carlos Zialcita on harmonica, vocals; Chris Planas on guitar, vocals; Mio "Timbalero" Flores on congas, percussion; Rey Cristobal on piano; and Carlton Carey on drums. Vocalist Myrna Del Rio joins them for this performance and has been a featured artist at the Cadillac Hotel Concert Series, the People in the Plazas Concert Series, and with singer/songwriter Anna Maria Flechero at Yoshi's Oakland in March 2011.
Little Brown Brother was a featured group at the 2008 San Francisco Filipino American Jazz Festival and has appeared at many events in the Filipino and Pan-Asian communities including the Asian Heritage Street Festival, the Jazz Appreciation Month Concert in 2010 at the SF Main Public Library, the SF Manilatown Heritage Foundation Banquet in 2008 and 2009, the SF Presidio Museum in 2009, the UC Berkeley International House in 2010, and the Asian Art Museum celebration of Filipino American History Month in 2009 and 2011.
This is the debut performance by Little Brown Brother at La Peña Cultural Center. We invite you to support this venue, its cultural programs, and its promotion of live music in the East Bay as well as the on-going performances by Little Brown Brother, a band dedicated to preserving and celebrating Filipino American jazz in the SF Bay Area and beyond.
