Newworldaquarium (NWAQ, Delsin | Amsterdam) LIVE Mike Servito (Ghostly | Brooklyn) Spinoza (The Bunker | Brooklyn) Eric Cloutier (The Bunker | Brooklyn)
Newworldaquarium is the alter ego of Amsterdam based Jochem Peteri, named after a New York aquarium supply store. Peteri has released only a handful of records over the last sixteen years under various monikers: Newworldromantic, Ross 154, and 154. With tracks licensed to Carl Craig and classic releases on Delsin and Peacefrog, Peteri has remained mysteriously under the radar. In late 2001, Peteri set up his own label, NWAQ, to release his material. His sophomore album, "The Dead Bears" arrived in early 2008, fifteen years after his debut on Dutch techno imprint Eevo-Lute Muzique. After two stellar performances at The Bunker in the past two years, Jochem has become a crowd favorite and one of our favorite dudes to bring to town.
Mike Servito is a DJ's DJ - a lifelong music fanatic with a truly unique ability to move a dance floor. Fearless in his seamless transitions from one style to another, Servito has an unpredictability and a deep trust in his music knowledge that has garnered him a cult following and made him an in-demand DJ the world over. Although Servito is an NYC transplant, his DJ style is unmistakably Detroit. Inspired by Detroit radio the '80s and the city's local DJs in the '90s, Servito came of age in a flourishing electronic music scene, making his debut in 1995 and immediately gaining the attention and respect of his peers and local techno heroes. He has played multiple DEMFs and has held court with some of the best talent in the world. In 2008, Servito became the newest addition to Ghostly's DJ roster, and has happily returned to DJing and traveling the world playing his favorite music. Mike is one of the best DJs in New York City, and we never tire of his sets.
Bryan Kasenic (aka Spinoza) is known in the electronic music world for throwing many successful parties, playing adventurous DJ sets, launching an influential newsletter, and starting Beyond, his own booking agency. The past few years have seen Spinoza take his infamous Brooklyn-based party, The Bunker, to Unsound Festival in Krakow, Communikey Festival in Boulder, Decibel Festival in Seattle, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Philadelphia, and of course Detroit. The Bunker celebrated it's eight anniversary in January.
Born and bred in Michigan, and currently based in Brooklyn, Eric Cloutier is one of a new generation of American DJs bridging the gap between dance music's past and its future. His sets have a sprawling depth and sophistication that fuses the brooding intensity of tripping techno with the mechanic funk of contemporary house. Aside from regular appearances at The Bunker, Eric traveled to Japan to play at the Labyrinth Festival (and was invited back by Mindgames for an off-festival event), and has appeared all over the US and Europe. He put out many well received podcasts in the past couple years, and is working on a few new ones and delving into the studio for some original productions.
