Ithaca Fiddle ImprovExperience Weekend
The Ithaca Fiddle ImprovExperience is designed to inform and inspire fiddlers and violinists in the art of improvisation across many genres of music including jazz, bluegrass, contemporary, old time, irish, contradance and other styles. Our faculty are among the best players and teachers in their respective musical genres who will work to tailor the weekend to best serve the needs of registrants. They include jazz violinist Sara Caswell, eclectic fiddler Duncan Wickel, violinist Ariana Kim from Cornell University, Ithaca College's Violin Professor Susan Waterbury, and fiddler/violinist Joe D'Esposito. The weekend will serve the needs of violinists interested in exploring improvisation and different musical genres, and fiddlers who want to enhance their tone and technique while improving their improvisation skills.
The event will be held at Cornell's Lincoln Hall on Friday evening and Sunday morning, and the Unitarian Church in downtown Ithaca on Saturday, with a Saturday evening faculty concert at the Carraige House Hayloft.
