Kiss of the Spider Woman
In celebration of Vidiots' 30th Anniversary, join us for a screening of one of 1985's most memorable films: Kiss of the Spider Woman followed by Q&A with the film's Oscar-nominated producer, David Weisman, on Sunday August 30th at 7:00 PM.
Kiss of the Spider Woman was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture (eventually losing to the inferior Out of Africa), Best Director for Hector Babenco, Best Adapted Screenplay for Leonard Schrader, and won the Oscar for Best Actor for William Hurt's outstanding performance as trans prisoner Luis Molina whom we meet in a South American prison cell shared by Raul Julia.
David Weisman's other movies include: Naked Tango, Shogun Assassin, and the cult classic Ciao! Manhattan
Doors will open at 6:30 PM and screening will begin at 7:00 PM.
This event will be a fundraiser for Vidiots Foundation, a community hub for anyone passionate about film. We are a non-profit, 501 (c) organization dedicated to the cinematic and media arts in the form of preserving and protecting our collection of over 50,000 rare and classic VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray titles.
We celebrate cinema and the vitality of independent art through education, archival preservation and accessibility. The Vidiots Foundation connects people to experience evolving media, taking video store culture into the 21st century.
