Hanging in the Keep, with Simon Wood
The Hang or 'hang drum' as it is popularly known, is an amazing modern creation yet it sounds ancient. Western made but influenced by the east and by the Caribbean, its overtones and its simplicity are its keystone.
It opens you up and lifts you up with a grace and gentleness not usually associated with the hardness of steel. This is a kind of alchemy of touch, metal and sound.
Simon Wood will enchant you with the haunting sounds of the Hang played within the amazing ancient surroundings of Newcastle's Castle Keep, part of Newcastle Castle, with help from Tabla player Martin Douglas.
This will be an amazing opportunity to hear this fascinating instrument in a totally unique setting. Don't miss it!
Tickets £10, £8 concessions
The Castle Keep is a Grade 1 Listed medieval building, and unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible - the performance will be on the second floor of the building. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
