From Spain to Cuba and Back
FROM SPAIN TO CUBA AND BACK Habanera, Zarzuela, Rum and Cigars From music to dance, architecture to food, commerce and travel between Spain and colonial Cuba resulted in a dynamic synthesis of the arts and culture of both countries. The Boston Arts Consort explores this exciting relationship with performances of Spanish music inspired by Cuban rhythms and themes, and Cuban works influenced by Spanish forms, including excerpts from the great Cuban zarzuela, "Cecilia Valdés", a story of passion and race. Discover the glories of the architecture and enjoy the culinary delights that were born of this union, and sing with us the famous "La Paloma".
