Autumn Moon Asian Harvest Festival
SNUG HARBOR CULTURAL CENTER & BOTANICAL GARDEN welcomes you to the AUTUMN MOON FESTIVAL SEPTEMBER 19, 2015
As is tradition, the garden tells the story of Chang'e, whose face supposedly appears on the 15th day of the eighth month on the Lunar Calendar, in conjunction with the seasonal harvest fest in East Asia, a celebration dating back to at least 2000 B.C. THE AUTUMN MOON FESTIVAL will feature a concert by Elena Moon Park, tours, traditional, music and dance performances, Martial Arts and Tai Chi demos, as well as lessons in Chinese calligraphy around and in the New York Chinese Scholar's Garden,; the garden itself was built in the 1990's and is based on original designs by Zou GongWu, a recognized leading scholar of classic garden design. Asian-style food, including traditional will be available for purchase. This enduring celebration of Asian culture aligns with harvest festivals such as China's Zhongqiu Jie, Japan's Fukushima Autumn, Thailand's Loy Krathong Festival and Vietnam's Tet Trung Thu, when the moon is at its fullest!
