Agony and Ecstasy
The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's "Winter Baroque" concert series concludes with "Agony and Ecstasy," a concert of German and Austrian music showcasing the "Mystery Sonatas" by Heinrich Biber. It features performances by Baroque violinists Fiona Hughes, Theresa Salomon and Krista Bennion Feeney, concertmaster of the Orchestra of St. Luke's.
"Winter Baroque" is one of the chamber music events CMSCVA presents annually, this time programmed around the remarkable and evocative music of the Baroque period. The series brings together seven celebrated musicians - international competition winners, favorite performers from Richmond's classical music scene, and world-class soloists - to bring this thrilling music to life in concerts in our modernist venue at the First Unitarian Church, and the Gellman Room of the Main Public Library in downtown Richmond.
