Tuesday 11/15 - THE BANDIT KINGS CD RELEASE! with very special guests DAN BAKER and THE BREAKDOWN and BRAD BYRD 8:30 doors / 9:00 show $8 in advance / $8 at the door www.banditkings.com www.danbakertunes.com
Alt. country / rock / pop band THE BANDIT KINGS celebrate the release of their lastest CD tonight with some special help from DAN BAKER AND THE BREAKDOWN. Singer songwriter Brad Byrd opens.
The Bandit Kings are an alt. country/rock/pop band with two female lead vocalists, a vintage jangle sound and modern rock rhythms. Based out of Boston/New England, and featuring Renee Dupuis on lead vocals and keys, Ann Marie, also on lead vocals, rock all-stars Dennis Monagle on drums, Joe Cardoza on bass, and Dan King on lead guitar. The band has found bare-bones musical chemistry, including the rich meld of vocalists Ann Marie and Dupuis, who "both have voices that bring us back to the dawn of country rock, whisky soaked and raspy in just the right places while never crossing into the overpowering." (Boston Band Crush)
Dan Baker is a Boston based singer/songwriter. Since his debut release"Outskirts of town" in 2008, Baker has been playing to audiences around the north east and gearing up for his latest release.
Baker intricately blends his words to bring forth powerful stories, some bitter sweet, some dark, and others laced with his straight faced dry humor. He has the ability to take the simplest objects and scenarios and twist and mold them at his will.
ndie-rock singer/songwriter Brad Byrd's latest studio album "Mental Photograph" is now available. The first official release in over 6 years and debut on Byrd's newly formed label/venture Elusive Tiger records, acts as the follow up to 2005's critically acclaimed release "The Ever Changing Picture". The new 11 track album carries on that similar through line and message that life indeed is an ever changing picture, yet in many ways serves as a portal into a new view of the world, one of hope and awakening to ultimately reveal deeper truths that the artist has discovered along his path. The new collection almost effortlessly takes the listener on an autobiographical journey through time spent living in New York City and Los Angeles, CA and then finding his way back home to his roots on the north shore of Massachusetts. All the while closely mirroring and documenting the modern day human condition. Byrd references works from artists such as Aimee Mann, Nada Surf, Joseph Arthur, Spoon, Flaming Lips, Evan Dando, and Ryan Adams (shortlist) that helped shape the album's overall vibe. "I wanted to make a different sounding record than anything I'd done before and from what I'd been hearing out there" says Byrd, "from the get-go the plan was to try and incorporate a more vintage analog 'rehearsal space' feel to the songs yet maintain that modern digital singer/songwriter sound at the same time." The album has a bit of everything from the lumbering indie rock sunshine feel good opening cut "Zero to the 101" to the spacey eerie "Livewire" to the up beat teen punk rock anthem "Modern Day Miracle" to the wood floor creaky acoustic number "Middle of the Road". "I really wanted to showcase more of a diverse palate of songs on this record. I wanted to draw off all the elements that I love about indie rock, pop, alt country, punk, and blues."
