Serious About Skin Symposium
WHAT IS SASSY? Serious About Skin Symposium is Community Memorial Health System's first wound and ostomy educational program open to the medical community local to the Ventura and surrounding areas. The vision for this program is to provide additional education support for local nurses and other clinicians specifically in the areas of wound, ostomy and continence care.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND? RNs, LVNs, nursing students or any other clinician interested in wound/ostomy care.
COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of the program, the participant will be able to: * Discuss the key concepts of pressure ulcer prevention and management utilizing Evidence-Based Practice per Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse's (WOCN) Society and National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) guidelines. * Discuss the key factors of Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Management and Legal Care practices for all healthcare clinicians. * List the indications, characteristics and management issues of an ostomy patient. * Explain the differences between pressure ulcer, incontinence associated dermatitis and intertriginous dermatitis. * Describe four advanced modalities and/or interventions to promote wound healing and wound resolution. * List five indications for hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy and describe the physiological impact of HBO. * Describe three differences between venous and arterial ulcer appearance. * Discuss common interventions for venous and arterial ulcers.
