decembersongs: An Acoustic Holiday Celebration
Nashvillians Amy Speace, Jon Vezner & Sally Barris and LA's Dan Navarro join voices again to sing holiday songs old and new in a 15-date tour stretching from Virginia to New York, Minnesota to Atlanta, and points in between. The hallmarks are the same as last year's debut tour -- songs of the season, delivered in voices blended in friendship and joy, one by one for 2+ hours of holiday revelry. The group was conceived by Amy Speace as an acoustic holiday celebration performed in-the-round, in the tradition of Nashville's famed Bluebird Cafe, which all four artists have played extensively over their storied careers. Each member brings world-class credits to the stage, both as songwriters and as performers.
Amy Speace has released four albums in the past eight years, being named Emerging Artist of the Year by Folk Alliance International in 2007, as well as being covered by the legendary Judy Collins. Her third album, "Land Like a Bird", was released in early 2011 and has enjoyed extensive radio play on the Folk-DJ chart.
Los Angeles native Dan Navarro spent 20 years as half of the acoustic duo Lowen & Navarro, as well as writing for artists such as Pat Benatar (the Grammy-nominated classic "We Belong"), The Bangles, Dionne Warwick, The Temptations, Dave Edmunds and many more. A solo artist since the 2009 retirement of Eric Lowen due to complications from Lou Gehrig's Disease), he will relase first solo album of new material in early 2012.
Sally Barris is best known for her Grammy-nominated work with Tricia Yearwood, as well as songs for Martina McBride, Kathy Mattea, Kellie Pickler and other Nashville mainstays. Her recent solo album, "Restless Soul", showcases her incisive songwriting and lovely voice, as steeped in Celtic roots as it is by country and folk traditions.
Minnesota native Jon Vezner has seen his deep songs grace albums by Kathy Mattea (the Grammy-wining "Where've You Been"), Faith Hill, Janis Ian, John Mellencamp, Martina McBride, REba McIntyre, Vonda Sheppard and many others. He has also grown into a solid record producer, helming projects for Danny O'Keefe, Victoria Shaw and the legendary PattiPage.
Together, the artists in Decembersongs bring years of experience and sensitivity to their holiday offerings, whether warm, poignant, uplifting or just plain silly. We hope you'll find what last year's audiences found -- that a Decembersongs show is a gift of song for all seasons.
