Writers Block: David Caudle Mighty Cindy Cypress
Howl! Arts and Howl! Happening present... Writers Block A week of Staged Readings to benefit the Actors Fund.
Sunday September 13 / Matinee 2 PM: David Caudle Might Cindy Cypress A new Musical with Puppets Book and Lyrics by David Caudle Music and Additional Lyrics by Becca Ayers and Bryan Crook A young, half Miccosukee girl in South Florida teams up with a motley group of Animals to save their Everglades habitat from the encroachment of a Megastore. Faced with her parents' possible split, Cindy visits her Grandmother in the Everglades, an American wilderness unique in the entire world. Cindy wakes up in the morning suddenly able to talk to the Animals: Konan and Junior, father and son Florida Panthers; Yoko, a fast-talking slow-walking Turtle; Chookie, a clever rabbit; non-native BO, A Constrictor; Madame K, a wise Ibis, and Big Al, a friendly Alligator. This rag tag group has been displaced by human encroachment twice, and now, their third home is threatened. Together they embark on a quest to save one corner of the Everglades from the terrible developers of a strip mall.
Writers Block reaffirms Howl! Arts and Howl! Happening's commitment to showcasing the vision of contemporary writers, performers, and artists. The Festival also serves to support Howl! HELP's mission to provide emergency financial assistance and social service support to artists who have participated in the annual HOWL! Festival or who made/make their careers in New York's East Village and Lower East Side arts communities. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Actors Fund.
