David Razowsky Workshops at Unscrewed Theater
David Razowsky is one of the top teachers of theatrical improvisation and acting. He has been called "the guru of improvisation, an improviser's improviser," who connects the mindfulness of Buddhism with improvisation's core principals of being in the moment, taking care of your partner, and groundedness. In his 25-year improvisation career David has worked with The Second City, iO West, The Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Dreamworks, BBC's Whose Line Is It Anyway, and Amsterdam's Boom Chicago Theatre. David is the host of the A.D.D. Comedy Podcast.
Workshops are listed with dates and times. All workshops (unless indicated) will be held at Unscrewed Theater:
Friday, October 2 7pm-10pm *WORKSHOP WILL BE HELD AT RESIDENCE INN WILLIAMS CENTRE 5400 E Williams Circle, Tucson, AZ 85711*
HEAR THE NOW:THE OPENING LINE ISN'T SPOKEN - Learn to hear what your partner's offering you before they even open their mouths. The answers are all in the tempo of their movements and their spatial relationship to you. It's all about trusting yourself, having confidence in your awareness, and the excitement knowing what you don't realize is what improv is all about.
Saturday, October 3 10am-1pm STRONG ENTERANCES, STRONG CHOICES - Be aware of all that's happening at the top of your scene and you'll be aware of the power you have in your character. It starts as all things do: at the beginning!
Saturday, October 3 2pm-5pm EXPOSE YOUR UnderWhere - One of the first things to escape you when you hit that stage is your "where," the objects around you, and, well, you know why: because you're thinking about "where to put things." This workshop'll connect you to everything that's already there, freeing you from thinking and encouraging you to see, helping you explore relationships and create characters in ways you've never done before.
Sunday, October 4 10am-1pm GROUP SCENES REDUCED - A group scene doesn't have to be a confusing or feared clusterfunk. Get yourself into that scene! Razowsky's workshop will show how the art of the three-person (OR MORE!) scene is simple once it's broken down, leading you to stronger, challenging, surprising, and easy long-form scenes. Start it out right, heighten it, move it forward, and keep it moving. Come join us: we need you!
Sunday, October 4 2pm-5pm EVERYDAY'S EVERYONE'S BIRTHDAY, or GIFTS, GIFTS, GIFTS - What you imagine is there, is there. Know that you see it, and know that you get to voice what your imagination says is there. Know that you hear it, and know that your imagination will lead you to surprises, inspiration and powerful, solid scenes.
Maximum number of students for the workshops are 16. Students must be 18 years or older. Tuition is non-refundable.
Online sales close October 1 at 7pm.
