Celebrating a Century of Bill Monroe: A Mandolin Tribute to the Father of Blueg
Bluegrass began at the Grand Ole Opry, but ended up at Newport, with the classic style being fully embraced by the folk world during the great revival of the 1960s. Bill Monroe, "The Father of Bluegrass," almost singlehandedly created the form, which continues to grow in popularity and adventure today. Caffe Lena has had a long love affair with bluegrass, presenting legends old and new, including Frank Wakefield, Bill Keith, David Grier and The Gibson Brothers. Join us as we celebrate the 100th birthday of Bill Monroe and pay tribute to his haunting songs, high harmonies and hot picking with four fabulous bluegrass bands from the Capital Region.
