AFRICA, BLOOD AND BEAUTY
A film that explores ancient traditions still practiced today by the Bushmen of Botswana, the Baka of Cameroon, the Hamers and Surmas of Ethiopia, the nomadic Berbers of Morocco, the Himba in Namibia and the Dogon of Mali. Focusing on religious practices and rituals, rites of passage, marriages, burials and the role of men, women and children in these societies, this anthropological survey pushes one to reflect, in particular, on the diversity found around the notion of beauty in humanity and how people are willing to practice sometimes very painful acts to achieve beauty and acceptance.
