Stand-up Comedy w/ Drew Hastings & David Dyer
Standing 6'6" tall and clad in a well-tailored suit and trademark black horn-rimmed glasses, Drew Hastings is a commanding presence onstage as he launches into a study of the human condition. His trademark comedy is both hilarious and self-deprecating. Hastings is part stand-up comic, part raconteur and serious dramatic writer/performer. Born in Casablanca, Morocco and raised in Ohio by a British mother, Drew brings to every performance a down-to-earth Midwest sensibility peppered with British aloofness and condescension. Elitist and populist, Hastings' eye catches it all.
Hastings is regularly booked on network talk shows for personal appearances, and is a member of an elite group of performers to have received a standing ovation on "The Tonight Show." Hastings storied and colorful life has been the inspiration for several one-person shows. Most notably his fictitious Tony Robbins' tinged character "Jack Freeman" of "The Business of Living" found an immediate cult following in Los Angeles. "Jack" soon caught the attention of the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show, where the hilarious Freeman was introduced to a national audience. Drew's appearances were so well-received that he soon became a regular guest. In addition to his regular comedy touring, Drew also headlines on "The Bob and Tom Comedy All-stars Tour." Hastings is also a farmer, and owns and operates a cattle farm in southern Ohio. In this rural environment, Hastings has developed a large following of new fans who appreciate his eye for the humor in his fish out of water new life, as Drew regales his fans with true tales about farm living and the local characters he comes in contact with daily. Drew's current one-hour Comedy Central special, "Irked and Miffed," debuted to over a million viewers on the network, and remains a top-ranked online download.
After high school, David Dyer went to Michigan State University where he found a home in the Theatre Dept and aspired to be one of the great Broadway directors of our time. After realizing the incredible amount of sacrifice and butt-kissing such a ridiculous dream required he chose to take the easy path of stand-up comedy. Growing up, David was exposed to and greatly influenced by the comedy of Monty Python's Flying Circus, Bill Cosby, George Carlin, and Steve Martin. He wrote five minutes of material, attended an open mic night in Lansing, MI, and headed down a path that both his parents and wife were hoping would've taken him a lot further by now.
David Dyer has worked with some of the best performers in the industry including Drew Carey, Lewis Black, and Kathleen Madigan, just to name a few. He's appeared on the nationally syndicated "Bob and Tom Show" as well as their telecast on WGN America. He's a contributing writer to NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and he's also contributed to "ABC's Politically Incorrect" and "The Zany Report" on The Bob and Tom Show. He performed several recurring characters on The Kevin Matthew's Morning Show on 97 WLAV FM in Grand Rapids, MI. In the past, he won The Grand Rapids Magazine Comedy Joke Off; a competition that put him up against the best comedic talent in the State of Michigan. David's interesting and sometimes twisted take on life's quirky little situations means that he's doing a lot of the same crappy material a million other guys are doing....he just does it differently.....better.....quirkier. David Dyer's energy, writing, and hilarious physicality make him an exciting performer who's in increasingly high demand (cliché). He currently resides in Grand Rapids, MI, but is looking for the money and a reason to get out....please help him.
