Great Midwestern Bread Experiment
Join Hewn at Hazzard Free Farm for a one of a kind opportunity to experience the Great Midwestern Bread Experiment first hand. Come for a tour of the farm and an intimate conversation with Andy Hazzard and Ellen King as they share their passion and love for farming and baking with ancient grains and a family style gathering focused on food and friends. The day will kick off with a tour of Hazzard Family Farm where you will get to see the grains in the fields and experience the beauty and peace of the Midwest countryside. We will then caravan to Andy's home and enjoy another tour of the newly minted ancient grains nursery that Andy has set up. Willing workers will help harvest the stunning Marquis wheat that Ellen and Andy have planted. We will then sit down to share in breaking bread and enjoying each other's company. Food and libations will be provided by Hewn & Hazzard Free Farm. Bring your own place settings and picnic blanket or chair, tables will be provided. Folks will have the opportunity to splash in the creek and frolic in the fields bring your yard games and Frisbees and join us for our first gathering, celebrating the rich history of humankinds dance with food and farming. Those who wish are welcome to bring a dish to pass, let us know what you plan to bring when you RSVP.
