The DanceWright Project and Guests Present Waterhouse and Other Works
Recently, Jamie Wright witnessed one of the most oddly literary catcalls ever, "Baby, you look just like a Waterhouse painting!" This is the inspiration of Waterhouse, a celebration of the earthy beauty and strength of the women in John William Waterhouse's paintings. In addition, The DanceWright Project will reprise Sadness in Glass, featuring George Peter Tingley's musical rumination of the passing of life into death, Brazilian Holiday, an early DanceWright Project work extolling the joy of life, and Muse, a tribute to his friend, Fay Sutton, who died in 2013 as a result of a lack of access to affordable healthcare coverage.
This 7th season for The DanceWright Project will also feature a number of guest artists. Penninsula Ballet Theatre will presnt a piece by Artistic Director David Fonnegra. Latin Contemporary Dance artist Tika Morgan brings her Brazilian-influenced, Silvestre Technique based company, Tika Morgan Dance. Hai Yan Jackson Chinese Dance will present a contemporary take on Classical Chinese Movement. Bay Area dance artists, Angela Dice Nguyen and Stephen DiBiase, will present a work in progress. And South Bay youth companies Dac Pac and Dance Attack! will return with their crowd-pleasing young artists.
