Merrimans' Playhouse Jazz Performance Series presents Stephen Lynerd Quartet
Stephen Lynerd on vibraphone, Benjamin Lynerd on piano, Tim Seisser on bass, and Phil Beale on drums.
Born and raised in New York, Stephen completed a M.M. in Music Performance from the University of Maryland, College Park. During a pursuit of Doctoral work in New York, Stephen picked up and moved to Dallas, TX where he worked in the music ministry of a large church and founded The Jazz Package, a versatile collection of musicians who still work together today. Following some time in California, Stephen settled in Chicago, where he continues to work as a church music director, and freelance musician and recording artist. The Stephen Lynerd Group was founded to bridge a gap between Sacred music of the church and Jazz in a new fresh setting music to the concerts. Highlights for 2015 include a tour of the Midwest and Eastcoast, as well as performing on a cruise through the Greek Isles.
