Musica Sacra Dec. 10th Christmas Concert
The Bastyr University Chapel is the perfect opening venue for the Musica Sacra Chamber Chorale's 2011 Christmas concert series. This European-style chapel with its wonderful acoustics, rich, hand-carved oak paneling, dark oak pews, marble columns, terrazzo floors and brilliant glass mosaic artwork, creates a fitting atmosphere of grandeur and elegance for the inaugural concert series of the Musica Sacra Chamber Chorale. This series of Christmas concerts, entitled "Peace & Joy", will provide a beautiful, musical introduction to Christmas for all who attend.
The featured work on this year's concert is Stephen Chatman's brilliant Christmas suite Carols of the Nativity as well as the world premiere of Spanish Cradle Carol: An Homage to Maurice Ravel by Bob Ingalls for Chamber Choir, cello and piano featuring Seattle Symphony cellist Roberta Downey and MSCC accompanist Kevin Aanerud.
Also included in this concert are settings of the following carols by distinguished American choral composers:
