The Producers of 14/48 Bring Theater Anonymous to Seattle
SEATTLE, WA The producers of 14/48 the world's quickest theater festival, not content with their twice-yearly exercises in theatrical endurance and fearlessness, are bringing Theater Anonymous to Seattle with It's a Wonderful Life on Monday December 19 at 8:00 pm. It's a Wonderful Life plays one-night-only in Capitol Hill's Erickson Theatre.
The premise of Theater Anonymous is simple. Nobody knows the cast, not even the cast. Approximately 30 actors will be selected through an invitation process (similar to the 14/48 festival), and each will rehearse one-on-one with the director, never meeting their fellow actors. Actors must take an oath of secrecy and are allowed to tell only one other person on earth that they are participating. Actors enter the theater in street clothes, sit with the audience until their first line, and deliver it from the audience before joining the rest of the cast onstage.
It's an exciting, fly by the seat of your pants evening of theater that celebrates Seattle's amazing theater community. Who will play George? Who will play Mary? Mr. Potter? Clarence? Nobody knows, and it could be the person sitting right next to you.
The concept is licensed by The Anonymous Theatre Company of Portland, and It's a Wonderful Life (based on the Frank Capra film and the short story by Philip Van Doren Stern) will be produced by One World Theatre and Three Card Monty. The process is guided by a small Producing Board, the only people who will know the entire cast before the evening's performance, comprised of Shawn Belyea (Director), Ryan Higgins (Assistant Director), Jim Jewell, Peter Dylan O'Connor and Jodi-Paul Wooster.
Theater Anonymous presents It's a Wonderful Life will take place at the Erickson Theatre in Capitol Hill on Monday December 19, 2011 at 8:00pm. Tickets are $18 and available through Brown Paper Tickets. Produced by One World Theatre and Three Card Monty, with partnership support from Balagan Theater and licensed from The Anonymous Theatre Company.
