Lunar Fest VIP & Sponsor Dinner
It's coming to that time again to get Lunar Fest planning under way for the big day on Jan 28, 2012 where we will be kicking off the Year of the Dragon in Downtown Riverside.
International Relations Council of Riverside and the IRC Lunar Fest, invites you to the Lunar Fest Golden Dragon VIP Gala. This exclusive dinner and reception will be held at the historic Riverside Art Museum on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. We will transport you to a setting of the ancient orient, with a Traditional 12 Course Wedding Style Banquet, complete with eclectic international flavors and entertainment representing our Sister Cities in Asia. Gala Tickets are $95 each, Live Auction, Silent Auctions, Cultural Entertainment and more. Come partake in this evening of Cultural Traditions, Asian Cuisine, Fashion, and Fun. Asian attire is most welcomed. Seats are limited, so hurry. Go to the link below to get your tickets or contact Theresa Birkett at 951-712-6301 for more info.
Lunar Fest is the only collaborative event ever undertaken in Riverside for the diverse Asian Pacific countries represented in Inland Southern California. Nearly twenty thousand people attended the first Lunar Festival; it was, perhaps, the largest festival ever hosted in Downtown Riverside. Lunar Fest, an affiliate of the International Relations Council of Riverside (IRC), commemorates the contributions of Asian Pacific Americans to the education and history of Riverside and the region. Past and recent members of this diverse group have built the railroads, worked in the citrus groves, and contributed to international educations through Riverside's Asian Sister City relationships via IRC. Lunar Fest brings together Riverside's diverse cultural communities, to learn, share, and celebrate our City's ties to the Pacific Rim.
The 2012 Lunar Fest will feature a spectacular parade, with traditional performances in martial arts, song, dance and music through-out the day. Cultural trade goods and foods from the Pacific Rim, provided by Inland Region small businesses, will be featured. We are working with local school districts to promote art, film, music and cultural exhibits from and about our Asian Sister Cities in China, Japan, Korea and India in addition to other Pan Pacific Rim Countries. Our Children's Village was a huge success this year, families loved the event, and we expect that it will grow. With the generosity of a major sponsor, free activities such as origami, calligraphy, arts and crafts, games, and a balloon artist will be available for children to experience and enjoy. To conclude the festivities, we will welcome the Year of the Dragon with a spectacular fireworks display. I hope to see you at the festivities and we thank you for your continued support.
