Betrayal by Harold Pinter
Once again The Living Room takes their audience on a journey through the expansive possibilities of their performance space. Adopting their sixth and most adventurous playing area, Harold Pinter's Betrayal will be presented in a Promenade Style. The audience will experience this gripping play right alongside the actors, moving from space to space with them. There will be freedom to roam, and find the perfect voyeuristic spot to experience each of Pinter's intimate scenes.
The play begins in the present, with the meeting of Emma and Jerry, whose adulterous affair of seven years ended two years earlier. Emma's marriage to Robert, Jerry's best friend, is now breaking up, and she needs someone to talk to. Their reminiscences reveal years of deception and betrayal. Thereafter, in a series of contiguous scenes, the play moves backward in time, from the end of the affair to the beginning, revealing the little lies and oblique remarks that in this time-reverse, reveal more than direct statements or overt actions ever could.
