A Pale and Lovely Place
DAY OF SHOW: Tickets will only be available at West of Lenin beginning 45 minutes prior to show. Door Price is $25
Kevin Joyce's award-winning solo show, A Pale and Lovely Place returns to Seattle after a 12 year hiatus. Director Kevin Kent and Joyce are remounting the cult-hit musical monologue, a that The Stranger called "bitingly funny". A 60 minute tour of the dark recesses of human behavior, the show features three characters-in-one who conspire to sell the audience an enigmatic, Faustian "Covenant". With zippy, original songs and frightening tales told with unfailing mirth, the production is a mesmerizing review of the latent evils lurking in us all. Hailed by audiences and critics alike as a show that's as original as it is virtuosic, APALP provides a decided contrast to the typical Holiday show. This production features new staging and a new lighting design by AJ Epstein, whose new Fremont venue West of Lenin will host the December remount. Epstein says he invited Joyce to bring the show back "because it's a brilliant piece, and more people need to see it." APALP premiered in the 1996 Seattle Fringe Festival, and went on to several more regional venues, including ACT in 1999. Joyce is a co-founder of UMO Ensemble, spent 6 years as Director/Performer with Teatro Zinzanni, and now runs the creative and events agency EnJoy Productions with his wife Martha Enson.
Appropriate for ages 14+. No babes in arms. No late seating.
