International Heritage Music Series: Yaeko Miranda Elmaleh
Yaeko Miranda Elmaleh grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She began violin lessons at the age of 3. Yaeko was influenced by her multicultural upbringing. Her mother and father immigrated from France and El Salvador in the 1960's. Yaeko's musical style can be partially attributed to the passionate artistic and musical tastes of her family.
Since graduating from the New England Conservatory Preparatory school under Fudeko Takahashi, Yaeko has been a member of the world renowned Klezmer Conservatory Band and has performed throughout the country in such venues as Avery Fischer Hall in New York and the Walt Disney Concert hall in Los Angeles to name a few.
Yaeko's sound can be best described as soulful and passionate. When Yaeko performs she transcends the separation between herself and her instrument, and instead one hears an authentic voice, rooted in dedication of years of training, respect for diverse musical traditions, and her deep familial ties.
Part of the International Heritage Music Series. Based on the idea that music is inherent to strengthening community in cultures around the world, the series will celebrate regional music and dance traditions.
