The writer/producer/director William Scherer will be speaking about independent filmmaking in Santa Cruz and hold a screening of his new feature thriller "House on Rodeo Gulch".  The  cast, crew and the many businesses and individuals of Santa Cruz county who donated their time and materials into the making of this film will be there. Please join us!

The event starts at 7pm at The Del Mar on Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz.  We are asking a $10 donation from each guest to help defray the cost of renting the theater and insurance.

This exciting movie was filmed entirely in Santa Cruz County with mostly local talent.

House on Rodeo Gulch is a psychological thriller centered around a newly married step mother and her teen-age daughter who have just moved from Texas into their dream house deep in the redwoods of central California. Complications arise when they find the house full of strange activity. Little do they know, a Reverend and his assistant, their only neighbor, might have something to do with their problems. After all, religion knows no bounds.

This is a psychological thriller which would probably have a PG-13.  

Our film stars actress/model Chanel Ryan in her finest acting role. Chanel has over 40 films to her credit and was once called one of the most beautiful women in the World. As a model her face and figure has been prominently displayed in magazines throughout the World. Our young daughter is played by Megan Jay Simrell who resides from Palo Alto. Just 16 years old when this movie began filming, Megan was discovered by the Director and she electrifies the screen. William likes to think of her as a young, raw Jennifer Lawrence. This young lady is definitely going places  in the modeling and acting world once House on Rodeo Gulch is released. Jaye Wolfe of Aptos as the Reverend and Adrian Torres of Watsonville as his assistant, stand out as two of the finest actors in the business. Thank goodness they live here in Santa Cruz county as you don't find film talent like this outside of Hollywood. We can be thankful too they don't own a church here in Santa Cruz. Our sheriff is the extremely talented Barry Ratcliffe who is seen on tv every other day and has over 50 films and Tv shows to his credit. His most recent credits are the TV show Nashville and the film, Ted 2. Our grandpa is played by the talented Brian Spencer who is a Director/Actor and a legend here in the Santa Cruz theater world. We were also lucky to have found Chen Dubrin, one of the finest Director's of Photography on the Central Coast, in between assignments. After reading William's powerful script, he excitedly came on board and joined the team.

The event will honor the cast and crew and the businesses that help make this movie possible. There will be a Q and A after the show if people have questions. Doors open at 7 pm with event starting at 7:30.
