Watershed Opera: Femmes Fatale
The newly-formed Watershed Opera is devoted to character-rich, "up close and personal" performance of classic repertoire and new work. And the company's next program (and Town Hall debut) Femmes Fatale delivers plenty of rich characters, with a focus on women who defied societal expectation. Manon, the teenage trouble maker who, on the way to the nunnery, stole a carriage and high tailed it to Paris with a guy she just met; Musetta, the Bohemian artist who would sooner die than be tied down; the shiver-inducing rage of the Queen of the Night; and the fiery-tempered and 'free-loving' Carmen. Sharing the bill are orchestrated scenes from a new opera by company co-founder Jordan Corbin Wentworth Missing about a banker about to marry into a life of wealth and ambition, until he falls for a young woman on a Missing Persons poster. No costumes required, but come dressed as your favorite dangerous woman or man for the chance to win special prizes.
