James and the Giant Peach, TYA Version
Young James Trotter finds himself living a most solitary and lonely life in an orphanage after his parent's lives were prematurely ended in a most unfortunate accident with a rhinoceros following it's escape from the zoo. But James' life takes a turn (for the worse!) when his atrocious, scandalous, beastly, nefarious Aunts (did I mention really, really obnoxious) rescue him from Painswick Orphanage. James quickly realizes this is a dreadful and unpleasant living situation as he is subjected to the unpleasant and unfortunate demands of his aunts until.....a mysterious man appears in the decrepit garden James is tending. As magic unfolds, the most uncommon peach tree James tends to begins to produce the most amazing peach ever! As the peach grows to magnificent proportions (which the horrible aunts see as an incredible venture), it drops from the tree. One day, after a particularly unpleasant experience with his aunts, James is pulled into the peach where he meets his amazing bug friends. Together, they begin their journey to New York City in the now gargantuas peach. As James and his new Friends Grasshopper, Ladybug, Spider, Centipede, Earthworm and Ladybug overcome many obstacles along their journey, they learn the what true family is.
