A Princeton economics professor before joining Washington policy-makers in 2002, Bernanke was appointed chair of the Federal Reserve in 2006, a position he held until 2014. Coinciding with the Great Recession, Bernanke's tenure put him at the heart of the crisis. THE COURAGE TO ACT recreates these urgent years, as Bernanke recounts working with two presidents and two treasury secretaries as well as drawing on all the resources of the Federal Reserve to contain the financial crisis. A testament to leadership, this book give a unique look at the complex American economy. This is a ticketed event.
Mr. Bernanke will be in conversation with Judy Woodruff, Co-Anchor and Managing Editor of the PBS NewsHour.
