Two comic tales of passion about falling in love with the wrong person.
The Old Woman & the Thief, by Gian Carlo Menotti: An old woman and her maid do ridiculous things while competing to win the affections of a young man (who isn't particularly interested in either of them). A twisted tale of morals and evil womanly power.
Serse, by George Frideric Handel: A King falls in love with his brother's girlfriend, while the girlfriend's sister is also in love with the brother. Complicated and silly all the way through, pretty much.
